Tricks and Tactics Used By Gurus To Motivate You To Buy

Here are just a few of the many tricks gurus use to give you false hope and deceive you into giving them money…

Trick #1: Exclusivity

The first trick personal development gurus use to get you to buy into their faddy events is by branding them as exclusive…

This plays on your fear of missing out on something important and builds a sense of urgency inside you to book your ticket before all the seats ‘sell out’.

This fact is 90% of these events never sell out, and even if they did the gurus would just upgrade to a bigger room to allow more people to come so they can make even more money…

Often there is nothing you will learn at the event that can’t be found with a few hours on Google.

There just can’t physically be that many exclusive ‘secrets’ out there…

The illusion of exclusivity is simply a powerful marketing trick that gets people to take action… Nothing more.

Trick #2: Social Proof

The second trick personal development gurus use to motivate you to take action is by using a tactic called ‘Social Proof’…

You may have heard people in Business say…

“Word of mouth is the most powerful form of advertising”

Personal development gurus understand this extremely well. So well in fact, they often encourage people who have attended their events in the past to get on camera and sell their events and products for them…

Utilising the power of word of mouth on purpose…

This trick plays on your natural strategy for forming trust…

Most of the time, the people who are giving the testimonials are actually reading from pre-written scripts and sometimes are even enticed into giving great testimonials in exchange for free goodies and discounts on other services.

Also, the people you see in the testimonials are cherry picked and are often friends, partners or clients of the guru.

So they are biased…

What you never see in testimonials are the vast majority of attendees who were disappointed.

Trick #3: Certainty, Promises, and Confidence

The third trick personal development gurus use to sell I by projecting certainty, high confidence, and by promising results.

This tactic plays on your anxiety and fear of uncertainty and helps make you feel secure enough to open your wallet.

It’s widely known in the marketing and sales world that people have a higher likelihood to buy when you can promise they will get a specific tangible result from buying your product or service.

For example…

“If you attend ‘ABC’ events, you will get ‘XYZ’ results.”

These promises are often delivered in webinars and advertising by people who project a super high level of confidence in their body language.

Which people typically interpret unconsciously as meaning that person is certain of what they are claiming, making them come across as more believable…

The fact is there are way too many variables at play to promise results from a personal development event or trainings…

… because the key to success its in you taking action after the event.

You could learn everything there is to know about building a shed…

But if you choose to do nothing with that information…

And sit on your sofa all day eating ice cream and watching love island…

A shed is never going to get built, is it?

These events promise you unrealistic results that they simply can’t deliver on…

Real success lies in your ability to be empowered to consciously think for yourself, and act and behave in accordance to your own will.
