Day 1 – February 21, 2015
Landed at Gatwick at 8:10am to freezing weather (looked like it had been snowing a bit) and was able to get through Immigration and Customs without any hassle … had my first cup of Costa coffee (a nice steaming cup of cappuccino) while I waited for the Coach. The coach ride was scenic and I enjoyed the views in between naps!
Met on arrival at Digbeth Station by Jane who provided a great introduction to Birmingham and help me get organized – a bus card, checking fellowship finances which were not yet available! Thank goodness for cash on hand from my brother-in-law, even if it included some outdated £ notes!!! LOL!
The sun actually greeted me on arrival and took that to definitely be a good sign! Jane took me to my new ‘home away from home’ for the next month with a wonderful, warm and friendly Italian/British couple, Sonia and Tony, near Kings Norton, where I have a ‘warm, bright cosy room’ – just like the photo and description on the airbus site. I felt immediately right at home, especially with their two cats, one of whom just loves sleeping in my suitcase! Slept well!
