Day 19 – March 11, 2015 I met Jayne Leeson at the Meadows Sports College, …
Welcome To Birmingham Liz Terry!
About 18 months ago we advertised for a new mentee to learn, grow and work with us to take over from the awesome job that our mentee Ben Webb had done. Out of all of the applications one had particular interest for us from Liz Terry in Jamaica. We had met Liz that summer at NLP Trainers Training whilst out in Las Vegas as part of our NLP Master Training programme and the application came out of the blue as we hadn’t had any contact with her since that event.
That application started a dialogue as to how we could form a win- win relationship to meet her needs and Liz proposed an alternative to our scheme in that we could mentor and host her as part of a Professional Fellowship run by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK
The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission awards funds to citizens from developing Commonwealth countries for professional fellowships for mid career professionals to spend time with a UK host organization The previous year only 134 Professional Fellowships had been awarded for all Commonwealth countries so it is a very sought after and prestigious award.
Programmes for a Fellowship must have demonstrable development impact in the Fellow’s home country and the Fellow must be able to show how the knowledge and skills they will gain during the Fellowship will be disseminated after their return home. Together with Liz we put together a successful application for a Fellowship programme that will allow her to integrate NLP, with information that she gains from placements with organizations such as The Princes Trust, to benefit at risk young people in Jamaica.
On 21st February 2015, Liz Terry arrived at Digbeth Coach Station amid flurries of snow, from the sunshine island of Jamaica, to spend 4 weeks participating in our NLP Business and Leadership Programme. Our Business and Leadership Programme is delivered jointly by our Coaching Company Opt2B and Opt2XL, Birmingham’s Home of NLP Training.
During her time with us, Liz will be working on both her personal and professional goals that she has in place for her Fellowship Programme, before she returns home to facilitate positive change with the people of Jamaica and surrounding islands.
We have arranged a very busy schedule for Liz whilst she is with us, with various development visits as well as personal coaching and mentoring at our February/March NLP Trainings.
Liz will be writing a daily blog of her time in the UK and we look forward to sharing her experiences with you!
